Author! Author! Blog Bounce!~What Are YOU Affraid Of?

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Greetings my super duper little love monkeys!

Well it’s Thursday and you know what that means…

Yep, it is Author! Author! Blog Bounce time! I love this photo but I gotta tell ya, the only way you’d see me jumping off of the dock, willy nilly, into a lake would be if my entire body was on fire. Like literally on fire and the only way to put it out would be to plunge myself into the lake. I think I’ve mentioned before that I have water issues. I’m terrified of large bodies of water such as lakes and oceans. And if I choose to submerge myself into said large body of water I’m quite particular as to the condition of the water in question. Example, there will be NO getting into the water where I can’t touch the bottom if I can’t SEE the bottom. None of this jumping off a boat mid-lake, no leaping off of the dock or any of that nonsense. Why? Because I want to know what is swimming around underneath me contemplating eating me for lunch. Now, if I can actually see the bottom I would get in because I can see what is in there swimming with me. I’m also particular about the condition of the bottom that I might be touching. No slimy, weedy, mossy or anything like that. Ick. Seriously, I could go on and on about my issues with water and the creatures that live within it. There is a story about a family trip to an aquarium and a panic attack, but that’s a story for another day. Do you have a weird/unusual fear that makes absolutely no sense to anyone, even yourself?

Okay, y’all know the drill, head on over to the Omnific Blog and join the bounce or see who is bouncing along with me!

And don’t forget, you have until midnight tomorrow to enter the Lovestruck Giveaway hop! I’m giving away three books!

That’s all for today, my darlings, stay tuned for more blog fun!

Until next time,

Patty <3

International Short Story Day!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Hidey ho my delicious little love monkeys!

Yes, today is International Short Story Day! YAY! When I learned about it I did a little happy dance because I have been DYING to share this little short story with you and just needed an excuse to do so. Why did I need an excuse to share it you might ask, well, let’s just say this little ditty is…we’ll call it unusual. When my publicist got wind that I had “the perfect short story” to share, her knee-jerk reaction was, “Patty, don’t post that …. story!”

However, I made an argument that she just couldn’t deny and by the end of our email exchange she was completely on board 🙂

Now first I have to say that this story is very short so instead of making it a download thing, I figured I’d just post it here for your reading enjoyment. Second, this story is just for fun. I was having a random “I wonder…” moments that just wouldn’t get out of my head so I had to write it down and I hope you can enjoy it for what it is.

THAT being said, let me give a little bit of my “I wonder…” moment. Y’all know how much I love zombies and I had a thought about what might go on inside this mind of a zombie whilst engaging in an act that we have all engaged in a time or another. Some of us engage more than others, but I think we are all grown enough to admit that we have engaged and that we liked it, which is completely normal!

So, without further ado, I give to you a little piece that I like to simply call, Zombie…

~~~
Sitting alone in a dark, dank corner, my mind wandered to the girl the hoard chased into the warehouse. She was precisely the type of girl I would have gone after when I was human; wavy blond hair, crystal blue eyes and curves that just wouldn’t quit. I’d always had a fondness for a girl that had a little more meat on her bones, of course these days it was for a completely different reason. I closed my eyes and pictured the scene. I would track her in that open field behind the warehouse and at just the right moment I’d attack.
The taste of dirt filled my mouth as I pictured us hitting the ground, rolling through the weeds, goat head thorns sticking into my skin. I could imagine the harsh crunch of her skull followed by the soft squish of grey matter between my teeth and the sweet flavor of her brain and blood.
I started to feel things I hadn’t felt since the change, an all too familiar tingle below my belly, an undeniable itch that needed to be scratched. I didn’t even know this was possible anymore, but I took matters into my own hands, so to speak. Truthfully, I didn’t want to do this. Some of the others had warned me about the dangers of this kind of behavior, but I couldn’t stop either, the thought of her tangy, visceral spinal fluid drove me insane. Reaching inside the torn, filthy jeans I’d been wearing for weeks now, I followed my regular routine. Some of the flesh flaked off as I ran my hand over the length of my nearly petrified penis. She would scream loudly, but I knew that it would only make everything exponentially better and if I could just keep the others from hearing, I could have her all to myself. I imagined reaching the pituitary gland, the hormonal center of the brain and how charged with lust I would be once I swallowed it.
My hand jerked hard and I heard a ripping sound as my shaft broke off in my iron grip. I stared down at my open palm, at the now useless chunk of rotting flesh, laying there, utterly as lifeless as I was.
Well, damn, as if being a zombie didn’t suck enough.
 ~~~

So, has anyone else wondered about this scenario or is it just me? Yeah, I know, it probably is just me, but I gotcha thinking didn’t I? Or at the very least you had a modicum of fun and a good little chuckle reading it didn’t you?

Anywhoodle, check out the goodies over at the Omnific Publishing blog as we celebrate International Short Story Day! There are a bunch of free downloads so make sure you head on over and take a peek! Also check out the bounce we have going, find out what we, as authors think about short stories. Personally, I love short stories, they are quick and fun and sometimes that is all you have time for.

That’s all I have for you today, stay tuned for more blog fun later this week!

Until next time,

Patty <3

Sunday Six!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Salutations my darling little love monkeys!

Have you check out the books up for grabs in the Lovestruck Giveaway Hop? WHAT? You haven’t? What the blue blazes are you waiting for?

It’s Sunday, and you know what that means…are you ready for this week’s Six Sentence Sunday? Brought to you by the lovely ladies at Six Sentence Sunday!

You know the rules, right?

via Six Sentence Sunday FAQ page:

Pick six (6) sentences from anything you like (it can be from a Work in Progress (WiP), something you recently sold, something you hope to sell or even something already under contract and available for purchase – and don’t worry, Six Sentence Sunday is for published AND unpublished writers). Then post them on your blog on Sunday. That’s all there is to it!

Keep in mind what I’m going to give you IS signed with Ominfic Publishing but I’m still working with my awesome editors, which makes this technically WiP because when something is in editing, you just don’t know what is going to stay and what is going to have to go or be tweaked.

And, without further ado, here are your six sentences 🙂

~~~
Strolling out of the motel, I headed down the street, flinging my backpack over my shoulder as I walked toward the location. This place was supposed to be “off Sunset Boulevard”; apparently, that meant three blocks east and four blocks south of it. As I rounded the last corner, I saw my destination:
Dick Starr Photography
Let us make YOU a star
I think I’m going to hurl.
~~~

Man, you know it’s bad if it makes Evie want to hurl, after 135 years, homegirl has virtually seen it all!

Well, that’s all I have for you today. A great big Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there on this plane of existence and the next. Please stay tuned for Wednesday because, I don’t know if you know this, but Wednesday is International Short Story Day 2012! So, who has two thumbs and a short little bit of fun for my special little love monkeys? THIS GAL!

Until next time,

Patty <3

Happy Friday my loverly little love monkeys! Did you best this week like a warrior striking down his enemies? You’re sword swooshing right you did!

Now I know how much my special little love monkeys love their giveaways so I try to join the ones that come at me because, well, I’m a giver 🙂 So today, brought to you by the lovely ladies at Under the Covers and Bona Fide Reflections I give you the Lovestruck Giveaway Hop!

 Now this hop is a little different than the ones I’ve participated in before. This one is about what I’m reading and/or can’t get enough of and I’m going to be giving away two of those e-books as well as a copy of Cat O’ Nine Tails! That’s right, not one, not two, but THREE books in one giveaway!! I like to do things in threes 🙂

And because it’s a hop there is 130 different giveaways to throw your names in! WOW! You’ll be little reading fools!

Alrighty, on to what has got me going this summer! You all know of my love for the glorious Paula Quinn, right? I mean, it’s not like I’ve drooled love all over her or anything *drool drool drool* she has a penchant for writing deliriously glorious Highland men and I believe I’ve mentioned a time or two that I just can’t resist a man in a kilt…

I mean seriously, put a hot dude in a skirt and you might as well toss a bib on me…

I just don’t know, there is something about it kilt that makes me all hergldyburgledy in the head. Anyway, I started with the Laird of the Mist and it was all downhill from there. I just recently gobbled up her latest, Conquered by a Highlander, the 4th book in the Children of the Mist series and OMG it was YUM!

That being said, the book…nay, the hero that I just can’t get enough of no matter how hard I try, is Tristan MacGregor, the second son of Callum and Kate MacGregor and lead in Seduced by a Highlander, the second book in the Children of the Mist series.

Now THAT being said, this is the book I’m choosing this book and the first book in the series, Ravished by a Highlander because I can’t start you off with the second book, now can I?

However, I’m sure whoever wins will not only devour books one and two but will RUN to get books three and four!

So, you know how these things work right? Just fill out this little name and address thing and because I’m giving away ebooks, this contest is open internationally! You until 11:59pm on June 22nd to enter and you can also enter up to 5 times , yep, that’s right 5 time the chance to win three ebooks for your summer reading pleasure!

Click on the sexy man in the kilt to enter…

Alrighty my sweetings, that is all I have for you today! Be sure to get your names in and win a whole bunch of free books! Stay tuned!

Greetings my sunshiney little love monkeys!

So, it’s not quite “officially” summer, but someone forgot to tell Mother Nature in my neck of the woods. It has been hotter than a half-nekkid Dr. Ivan in water wearing sunglasses…

Or, let’s say, a rugged-ed out Dr. Ivan wielding a handgun…

What is it about a hot rugged guy with a gun that makes you want to lick the screen? Or is it just me?

Anyway, now that I have your attention, let’s get down to b’ness! Now, you have all seen the little “back cover” type blurby thing about Divinity right? Well, my amazing editor, Miss Colleen Keough-Wagner, has helped me come up with an even BETTER back covery type burby thing! And by “helped” me, I mean she totally did it and I just sat back and said, “OMG that is so much better than what I came up with!” So, here ya go, the new and improved back covery type blurbity bit…

Demons.

They’re everywhere, hiding in plain sight. Chances are, you’ve interacted with one or two of them in your lifetime without even realizing it…

Demon hunter Evelyn Brighton saves unsuspecting humans from the malevolent creatures masquerading around them every day. Working under the Lebriga Corporation’s direction, she never fails to bring her A-game with her keen skill, fiercely independent spirit, and the best weapon in her arsenal: the Divinity blade.

Evelyn’s world is turned on its ear, however, when she is ordered to train cocky new recruit Daniel Summers. They both feel an instinctive pull drawing them to one another, the ancient spells tattooed into their skin illuminating whenever the two hunters come into contact. But with evil looming over the city of Los Angeles, Evelyn and Daniel’s mutual competitiveness and sense of duty to Lebriga and all humankind forces them to hold back their desires. Will their restraint be enough to keep them focused and save southern California, or will the dark forces prevail?

Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Divinity is an action-filled, fast-paced marriage of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Edgy, witty, and sexy, it will bind you in its spell.

OooooooOOOooooooOOO! Are you thoroughly intrigued?

Alrighty, well, it’s Thursday and you know what that means…

That is right, it is Author! Author! Blog Bounce! time! YAY!!!! I just love this photo, it makes me smile. I tried to find a new one for summer but when I Googled for images I wound up with a plethora of women in bikinis jumping around on the beach. Yeah. Pleth-o-ra! So, I dug into my cache of images and pulled this one out. Not to mention the oh-so-pretty images of our dear Dr. Ivan.

You know how it works, just clickty click our little image here and sign up or see who else has signed up to bounce!

That’s all I have for you today my lovelies! Stay tuned for more blog happy fun times!

Until next time,

Patty <3

So, since you met Daniel on Friday, I thought I’d share a little bit of what Evie sees when she gets called into the boss’ office…

~~~
As I rounded the corner into his office, cramming the last piece of cheese Danish into my mouth, I saw that we weren’t alone. Leaning against the back wall behind Alex’s desk was what I assumed was the other half of Hot Handler Guy from the hallway.
He was leaner but not scrawny by any means. His brown hair was perfectly un-perfect, and a light dusting of scruff swept across his jaw. A mischievously crooked grin spread across his face as his piercing blue eyes blatantly rolled up and down my body.
“Come in and have a seat, Evelyn,” Alex said from behind the massive mahogany desk, the tips of his fingers pressed together in thought.
~~~

Let us go back to Friday’s visual aid for Daniel, shall we?

Gotta say, the shirt just makes that photo, doesn’t it? Chris Evans, if you’re out there reading this, YES PLEASE and THANK YOU!

Well, that’s all I have for you today, stick around for more blog fun next week!

Until next time,

Patty <3

Happy Friday: Introductions!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Happy Friday my supercalifragilisticexpialidocious little love monkeys! Did you take this week with a spoonful of sugar to help it go down with no muss and no fuss? You are most delightfully right you did!

Okay, well let’s get down to b’ness, shall we? I’ve talked about Evie here and here and while I love my kick ass chicks I figured it was time to introduce some man meat into the mix. So, since we’ve looked at our female lead, let us take a little peeky-poo at our male lead. Now, picture you get called into your office by your boss and this was standing there behind your boss…

And you boss informs you that your new assignment is to train this guy. Yeah. Not only do you get to hunt demons but you get to roll around on the floor with this guy…

Ladies, and gentlemen, I give you my visual of Daniel Summers, embodied by the oh so tasty Chris Evans! Daniel is new to the demon hunting scene, he has spot on instinct and he’s also cocky as hell, but when you look like that, how can you not be.

So, what do you think Miss Evie thinks of this guy? Will she fall head over heels for him like most of the women in his life have or will he just piss her off? Don’t forget Divinity is scheduled for release in early fall, but that date is still tentative so stick around as I’ll have a firmer date the closer we get! Also, stay tuned for Six Sentence Sunday!

Okay, I’m going to take a little proud mom moment here. Last night was 8th grade awards night at my middle son’s school, La Mesa Jr. High. My amazing son Ryan was awarded the William Shakespeare Award for excellence and a promising future in English/Language Arts and Writing!

Now mind you I am proud of all my children all of the time, however, the fact that I’m an author myself this just makes me proud beyond belief! Not to mention he is an amazing writer 🙂

Well that’s all I have for you today, but stay tuned for more blog fun!

Until next time,

Patty <3
