Faith made the mistake of giving her heart to someone who didn’t deserve her. After making the decision to leave, she sought refuge at a bar full of misfits. They accepted Faith without question, and now they protect her as if she’s family. While putting the pieces of her life back together, she fights to keep her broken heart from falling for the moody lead singer of the JackholeS. A man named Kill. About the author

Joy Eileen is a born bibliophile who becomes deeply engaged with her characters, and has devoured more books than she would like to admit. She becomes obsessed with happily-ever-afters, and will read any genre that fulfills that requirement. Evading the library is something she has been known to do, because after befriending the characters returning them would be a heartbreaking event. Books are held hostage on her bookshelf, and any author that makes her ugly cry becomes her sworn enemy. Nicholas Sparks is one of the many on the list of villains.
As a massage therapist, most of Joy’s stories come to her while working. With the sound of classical music, and snoring from a half covered hostage, characters are created. The victim (massage patient) has no idea that while their body is being manipulated, Joy has traveled into distant lands creating landscapes and inhabitants as she goes. Her patients should be wary as sometimes they are pulled into her stories and turned into characters. Hero or Foe? Well, that depends on how they tip.

Happy Release Day! Illumination by M.V. Freeman!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Hidey ho my sparkly little love monkeys!! Today I have the delightful M.V. Freeman here to talk about her top 11 favorite Romance Movies and the release of her latest, Illumination, the 2nd book in the Hidden Races Series!! So, without further ado, I give you M.V. Freeman!!!

1364

11 Romance Movies I love

I have a confession, I’m not a romantic movie person. Not really.  For example, I am not a fan of Gone with the Wind—but that’s me.  I know many who adore this movie.  You want to know why I don’t like it? There’s no happy ever after. Yes, I know, I know, the whole point of it was for Scarlett to stand on her own two feet.

But it didn’t resonate with me.

Now of course, I’m an Action/Adventure movie person; movies like 300, Lord of the Rings, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America, X-men are my type of thing. (Yeah, I used to collect Marvel Comics—so there is that). I can argue that there is some romance in there…but I digress.

But I do have a few; well more than a few and here they are no particular order;

Pride and Prejudice. BBC version—Colin Firth, need I say more?! (technically it was a “television series” but I insist it was a movie.)

Pretty Woman. Yes, I adore remakes of old tales, and this one was a wonderfully done.  A Cinderalla story of a hooker and a high powered businessman—impossible odds, but Julie Roberts was a delightful hooker, and Richard Gere really does charming well.

27 Dresses. –Technically, this is a “romantic comedy” another thing I don’t usually watch.  But, I loved, loved the heroine; always a bridesmaid and never a bride and her closet of horrid bridesmaid dresses. The hero was simply a nice guy …heck, I just loved it.

Ever After—Another take on the Cinderella story, with a bit more realism, but included a dastardly Step-mother played by Angelica Houston.  Drew Barrymore  as the “Cinderella” was wonderful, and I always watch it when I’m in need of a happy ending.

10 things I hate about you—with Heath Ledger, and Julia Stiles; probably one of the best Beauty and the Beast stories I’ve ever seen. Sure, it’s a teen movie, but sometimes they are even better than adult ones. The dialogue was exquisite.

GiGi—with Audrey Hepburn, if you haven’t seen it—you must. About a young woman who falls for her Guardian as she is being trained as a Courtesan.  Just yes. One of my favorites.

Sound of Music—yes. I LOVE this movie; the songs, the people. Julie Andrews to me is just a class act—and even though Christopher Plummer may not have cared for his part  I really, really thought he was a fantastically sexy Captain Von Trapp.

Sense and Sensibility—The story of a second family; displaced after the death of their father—the home taken over by their half-brother forcing them to live in a cottage. It stars Emma Thompson, (wonderful actress) and Hugh Grant.  Although, I admit; who I *really* watched it for was Alan Rickman. He was delightful; charming strong and his voice….sigh. This is a gentle romance—with everyone getting a happy ending.

The Holiday—Whocan resist Jude Law? This is a story of two women with messed up love lives who swap their houses over Christmas; and find new loves. It’s wonderful, sweet, and happy. I watch it at least yearly.

The Proposal:  Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are two of my favorite actors. Sandra plays a high up Executive in a publishing house, and Ryan is her competent frustrated writer lackey-this changes when she is faced with deportation back to Canada she talks him in to being her fiancé; they just didn’t anticipate finding love. Great dialogue and interaction….you have to see it.

This Means War: Chris Pine and Tom Hardy are CIA operatives fighting for the hand of Reese Witherspoon. This is a fun movie. Period. Well yeah, and Chris and Tom; worth the viewing.

What is YOUR favorite romantic movie?  Is it different?

Illumination; (Book 2 in the Hidden Races Series):

Illumination_FINAL FRONT

Capricious and free-spirited, Mina Tepes is forever trying to intervene. Some would say she interferes. Her attempt to save a friend worsens a war already waging between her people, the Darks, and their reviled overlords, the Mages. Desperate, she turns to the man who saved her life as child–an enemy Mage named Xander.

As part of the ruling class, Xander Fjordson should never have taken notice of Mina, but even as boy, one look into her large dark eyes and he was lost. As an adult, involvement with her has ripped his world to shreds. Though the war she unintentionally instigated has made them enemies, when she comes to him bleeding and injured, he is unable to say no. He puts at risk what is left of his status and his family as he follows her, knowing in the end he’d have to betray her.

Together Xander and Mina begin to unravel terrible secrets as the war escalates. Soon Xander must choose: save his family or the woman who’s come to mean more to him than his own life

Author Bio: M.V. Freeman lives in North Alabama. A nurse by day, at night she enjoys creating and exploring alternate worlds within our own. She gravitates toward stories of determined heroines and anti-heroes who push the boundaries as they both fight to find their light in the dark.
M.V. is represented by Victoria Lea from The Aponte Literary Agency. Her award-winning and best-selling debut novel INCANDESCENT is the first in the Hidden Races Series. Currently she is working on the third book in the series, while plotting others. When not writing, she can be found reading, cooking, throwing around kettle bells, or making coffee.

Release Day – Command The Tides by: Wren Handman!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Command The Tides,
a romantic fantasy novel by Wren Handman

CtT_FRONT_FINAL

Excerpt:

“David, help Ryan cover the trail. I’ll help Sarah take Darren. Taya, take my sword and cover us.”
“The girl? She’s like to cut off her own feet as an enemy!” Liam hissed.
Taya felt her face grow hot. As always when she felt embarrassment closing in, she covered it with anger. She grabbed Jeremy’s sword by the hilt, drawing it out with one smooth motion and swinging it down so the point touched the
ground just an inch in front of Liam’s foot. She felt Jeremy take a staggering
step backward, startled.
“I will not only cut our enemy, I will cut the feet off of our enemy and
leave them to bleed in the dirt. I haven’t let us down yet, and I certainly don’t
intend to start now. And if you ever call me ‘the girl’ again, I will show you
exactly what I am expert at cutting off,” she snarled, and then she hoisted the
sword and spun on her heel, storming away before he could react.
She stood at the edge of their sad, sodden company, the hilt of the sword
resting snugly in the palm of her hand, her back straight and her head held high,
and the only thing going through her mind was the fact she had absolutely,
completely, no idea how to use a sword.

Love Starts With Z by Tera Shanely: Excerpt & Giveaway!!!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Tera_banner

Love Starts with z

available 2/17/15

Excerpt:

It wasn’t until she stood panting over the bodies that she noticed the rope tied from the girl’s wrist to a woman, whose severed head stared back at her, teeth clacking rhythmically. Kneeling, she touched the blood stained rope and frowned. Any similarity between the two Deads had faded over the years of their decay, but they had to be related. Mother and daughter, perhaps, who’d got in a bad spot somewhere and been cornered. Tied themselves together so they’d stay side by side forever.

She wanted to weep for them.

Instead, she drew her dagger upward and freed the mother’s snapping jaws from an unfair afterlife.

She didn’t know how he’d approached so quietly, but Kaegan unhooked the small shovel from her satchel and started digging without a word. Dropping to her knees, she scooped dirt with her hands until there was a shallow grave made for two, and wordlessly, they dragged the mother and daughter into their final resting place. She cradled the child in her mother’s embrace and Kaegan covered them with the rich, black earth.

When she turned, the rest of the team stood in a quiet line near the grave, but she didn’t offer an explanation. She wouldn’t bury every one—couldn’t bury them all like they deserved—but she’d bury the ones she couldn’t live without doing it for. If the team didn’t like it, tough. She was through with apologizing for who she was.

Glaring at Mark, with his face still caked in blood, something loosened deep within her. She’d been sorry for so long, but what for? She was a monster, trying to be human, and dammit, she’d succeeded for the most part. She was a killer, the daughter of the infamous Laney Landry and Derek Mitchell. She’d been trained to fight by Finn and learned survival from Aaron Guist himself. Vanessa had gifted her speed with a blade, and she’d been raised as a daughter of the heart by the greatest leader in the known world, Sean Daniels. She was warrior, friend, ally, and enemy. She was Dead and human, and no matter which side she chose, she was traitor. Tired of apologizing for being different, this was where the winds of change turned into a fucking tsunami. She was a weapon, and they didn’t even know it.

She.

Was.

Soren.

Cover Reveal! Machine Head by T. A. Brock!!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Greetings my darling little love monkeys!! I have another cover reveal for you, it looks really cool and I’m really looking forward to reading this one with my girls because I think they’d totally dig it! Check it!!!

Where young rule and elders are hunted to extinction… and you decide who’s guilty.

Goodreads

MACHINE HEAD
An Interactive Novel

Available April 10, 2015

Adults have poisoned the world with their selfishness, jealousy, and deceit. Now it’s up to the young to heal it. First order: eliminate every elder. Second: discover the secret to never growing up. Third: procreate.

Ten Sixty-Four is on trial for treason. The crimes he committed are unforgivable: hiding elders who should be long dead, consorting with illegal untrained young, and purposely botching kill missions. He’s come a long way from the cold, unfeeling, Sleepwalker he began as. He’s still four years from the death age, which means the Hex can’t afford to kill him. If found guilty, he’ll be given to the Machine for reprogramming. But none of that matters because he’s done what no other Sleepwalker has dared to. He’s found love. And he knows something they don’t. Falling in love is the secret to achieving the third order.

Brille has a secret of her own: the elders aren’t extinct. They’re not even endangered. But what the rest of the world doesn’t know can’t hurt them. At least, not anymore than they’re already hurting themselves. There is no more laughter. No more crying. No feelings of any kind. Only in the secret hiding places where the untrained dwell with elders, can emotion be found. Then it’s anger, rage, and hostility. When she finds herself a target of the Sleepwalkers, she realizes she’s not the only one with secrets. Ten Sixty-Four feels. He might even be capable of love. The idea leaves Brille with an emotion she never thought she’d have: hope.

The Hex has convened. A trial will commence. You, a member of the jury, must decide Ten Sixty-Four’s fate, and with it, the future of humanity.

T.A. Brock spends her days gleefully plucking words from the chaos of life and dressing them up so they look pretty. Then she calls them stories and tries to convince people to read them. Paranormal, horror, and contemporary romance rocks her socks, but anything YA makes her feel young again, so she sticks with that mostly. She resides in the great land of mountains and green things (Arkansas) with her husband, two children, and her beloved Keurig machine, which she has built a countertop shrine to.

SUMMARY
Sometimes I liked to imagine, just for a second, that I was plain old Evelyn with nothing better to do in the morning than lie here with her man.

But that’s not how it was. That’s not who we were…

Evelyn Brighton and Daniel Summers are demon hunters, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Or would they, given the choice again?

Los Angeles is crawling with demons in disguise, and Evelyn and Daniel are a dynamic and fearless demon-slaying duo. Under the authority of Lebriga Corporation and protection of their Divinity blades, this duo has never felt more ass-kicking against evil or more in love with each other.

But something is rotten in the state of home demonstration parties—and it’s not because a seal’s broken in the Tupperware. Beautiful Illuminations is the latest rage in home-consulting cosmetics, founded by Annabelle Simmons. But beneath the layers of makeup and human flesh lurks Anabael, a disembodied Spectoral demon that inhabits people and steals their physical form. To a spirit like that, an ageless demon hunter has a body to die for.

And Evelyn just might.

As Lebriga battles Anabael mind, body, and soul, Evelyn and Daniel must draw on the strength of their relationship to win the war against the Spectoral menace. But what if winning the war means losing their love?

Music Monday: Demons!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Hidy ho my superdy duper little love monkeys!

Look at me! I didn’t forget to do the Music Monday post today!! GO ME!!

This post is a little hard for me to really do. Why you might ask? Well, you all know I like to add a little visual aid to my posts and this one was a hard to do.

Mainly because I didn’t want to scare the bejesus out of anyone with how I see the big baddies in Divinity. I’m not going to lie to you, they are some pretty gruesome individuals. So, I trolled around the web and I did find some excellent visual images of how I see the demons in this tale, however, the photos were really quite scary and I didn’t want to send anyone running and screaming from my wee little corner of the web. That being said, I did happen across an image that I thought I could share with you. Now, this isn’t an image of demons, those were all just too much, this is of another baddie in the tale, goblins. And I apologize in advance for anyone I might scare.

Heehee! Gotcha! Seriously though, this is how I envisioned the goblins but I love that they are drinking tea 🙂

Okay, I DO have some music to go with the demons in the story! This piece just oozes what the demons are all about, Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson.

Now, you’ll notice that this isn’t they official video because quite frankly the actual video creeps me the hell out! Actually, Marilyn Manson himself gives me the heebs but I think that’s what gives this song the right vibe for my demons. Why does this song say Divinity demon to me? Well, let’s look at the first couple of lines of the book, shall we…

~~~
Demons.
They’re everywhere, hiding in plain sight. Lawyers, doctors, politicians, the guy on the corner, the lady ringing up your groceries, your kid’s principal, or the over-exuberant PTA mom who runs every bake sale and fundraiser at the school.
~~~

See what I mean? The words to Sweet Dreams alone speak volumes as to how I envision my demons, but add in Marilyn Manson’s creep factor and it’s a dead ringer. Heck I can practically hear it when I read that part there.

Anywhoo, that’s all I have for you today! Stay tuned for more blog fun later this week!

Until next time,
Patty <3
