This roller coaster ride he had me on was making me question myself. Making me do things I had never dreamed of. So out of character, so unlike me.

Wild, exciting, and completely deranged come and fall in love with the mystery that is Freak Phillips.

Hidey ho little monkeys!!! Please help me celebrate the release of Joy Eileen’s first novel, Breaking Faith!!!

They accepted Faith without question, and now they protect her as if she’s family. While putting the pieces of her life back together, she fights to keep her broken heart from falling for the moody lead singer of the JackholeS. A man named Kill. Realizing I was half naked and pressed against him, I slowly
backed away. The immediate sadness from the removal of his electricity was

His grin disappeared, and the laughter in his eyes was replaced
with desire. I could see why girls all over Portland were infatuated with him.
Just one fierce look, and I wanted to wrap myself around him until you couldn’t
tell where he stopped and I began.

I took the step I had just taken away from him back toward him.
We both inhaled sharply when our bodies collided.

He pulled in his bottom lip, raking his teeth over it until it
popped out. My attention became rapt on his bottom lip and I wanted to bite it
like he had just done.

The wet heat between my legs was on fire, and the only way I
could think of getting rid of the burning ache was to have him buried deep
within me. The look in his eyes, before my attention went to his lips, showed
he was thinking the same thing.

My tongue darted out, and he groaned, making his chest rumble.
The sound caused my nipples to pebble, aching along with the rest of my body
for his attention.

He lowered his face to mine until our foreheads touched, our
lips a breath away. Both of us were panting, the dull pain between my legs
caused me to press my thighs together, trying to gain friction to help with the
need building inside of me.

When I was about to break and press my lips to his, Kill turned
around and stormed away, leaving me confused and unsatisfyingly

About the author
Joy Eileen is a born bibliophile who becomes deeply engaged with her characters, and has devoured more books than she would like to admit. She becomes obsessed with happily-ever-afters, and will read any genre that fulfills that requirement. Evading the library is something she has been known to do, because after befriending the characters returning them would be a heartbreaking event. Books are held hostage on her bookshelf, and any author that makes her ugly cry becomes her sworn enemy. Nicholas Sparks is one of the many on the list of villains.
As a massage therapist, most of Joy’s stories come to her while working. With the sound of classical music, and snoring from a half covered hostage, characters are created. The victim (massage patient) has no idea that while their body is being manipulated, Joy has traveled into distant lands creating landscapes and inhabitants as she goes. Her patients should be wary as sometimes they are pulled into her stories and turned into characters. Hero or Foe? Well, that depends on how they tip.

Happy Release Day! Illumination by M.V. Freeman!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Hidey ho my sparkly little love monkeys!! Today I have the delightful M.V. Freeman here to talk about her top 11 favorite Romance Movies and the release of her latest, Illumination, the 2nd book in the Hidden Races Series!! So, without further ado, I give you M.V. Freeman!!!

11 Romance Movies I love

I have a confession, I’m not a romantic movie person. Not really.  For example, I am not a fan of Gone with the Wind—but that’s me.  I know many who adore this movie.  You want to know why I don’t like it? There’s no happy ever after. Yes, I know, I know, the whole point of it was for Scarlett to stand on her own two feet.

But it didn’t resonate with me.

Now of course, I’m an Action/Adventure movie person; movies like 300, Lord of the Rings, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America, X-men are my type of thing. (Yeah, I used to collect Marvel Comics—so there is that). I can argue that there is some romance in there…but I digress.

But I do have a few; well more than a few and here they are no particular order;

Pride and Prejudice. BBC version—Colin Firth, need I say more?! (technically it was a “television series” but I insist it was a movie.)

Pretty Woman. Yes, I adore remakes of old tales, and this one was a wonderfully done.  A Cinderalla story of a hooker and a high powered businessman—impossible odds, but Julie Roberts was a delightful hooker, and Richard Gere really does charming well.

27 Dresses. –Technically, this is a “romantic comedy” another thing I don’t usually watch.  But, I loved, loved the heroine; always a bridesmaid and never a bride and her closet of horrid bridesmaid dresses. The hero was simply a nice guy …heck, I just loved it.

Ever After—Another take on the Cinderella story, with a bit more realism, but included a dastardly Step-mother played by Angelica Houston.  Drew Barrymore  as the “Cinderella” was wonderful, and I always watch it when I’m in need of a happy ending.

10 things I hate about you—with Heath Ledger, and Julia Stiles; probably one of the best Beauty and the Beast stories I’ve ever seen. Sure, it’s a teen movie, but sometimes they are even better than adult ones. The dialogue was exquisite.

GiGi—with Audrey Hepburn, if you haven’t seen it—you must. About a young woman who falls for her Guardian as she is being trained as a Courtesan.  Just yes. One of my favorites.

Sound of Music—yes. I LOVE this movie; the songs, the people. Julie Andrews to me is just a class act—and even though Christopher Plummer may not have cared for his part  I really, really thought he was a fantastically sexy Captain Von Trapp.

Sense and Sensibility—The story of a second family; displaced after the death of their father—the home taken over by their half-brother forcing them to live in a cottage. It stars Emma Thompson, (wonderful actress) and Hugh Grant.  Although, I admit; who I *really* watched it for was Alan Rickman. He was delightful; charming strong and his voice….sigh. This is a gentle romance—with everyone getting a happy ending.

The Holiday—Whocan resist Jude Law? This is a story of two women with messed up love lives who swap their houses over Christmas; and find new loves. It’s wonderful, sweet, and happy. I watch it at least yearly.

The Proposal:  Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are two of my favorite actors. Sandra plays a high up Executive in a publishing house, and Ryan is her competent frustrated writer lackey-this changes when she is faced with deportation back to Canada she talks him in to being her fiancé; they just didn’t anticipate finding love. Great dialogue and interaction….you have to see it.

This Means War: Chris Pine and Tom Hardy are CIA operatives fighting for the hand of Reese Witherspoon. This is a fun movie. Period. Well yeah, and Chris and Tom; worth the viewing.

What is YOUR favorite romantic movie?  Is it different?

Illumination; (Book 2 in the Hidden Races Series):

Illumination_FINAL FRONT

Capricious and free-spirited, Mina Tepes is forever trying to intervene. Some would say she interferes. Her attempt to save a friend worsens a war already waging between her people, the Darks, and their reviled overlords, the Mages. Desperate, she turns to the man who saved her life as child–an enemy Mage named Xander.

As part of the ruling class, Xander Fjordson should never have taken notice of Mina, but even as boy, one look into her large dark eyes and he was lost. As an adult, involvement with her has ripped his world to shreds. Though the war she unintentionally instigated has made them enemies, when she comes to him bleeding and injured, he is unable to say no. He puts at risk what is left of his status and his family as he follows her, knowing in the end he’d have to betray her.

Together Xander and Mina begin to unravel terrible secrets as the war escalates. Soon Xander must choose: save his family or the woman who’s come to mean more to him than his own life

Author Bio: M.V. Freeman lives in North Alabama. A nurse by day, at night she enjoys creating and exploring alternate worlds within our own. She gravitates toward stories of determined heroines and anti-heroes who push the boundaries as they both fight to find their light in the dark.
M.V. is represented by Victoria Lea from The Aponte Literary Agency. Her award-winning and best-selling debut novel INCANDESCENT is the first in the Hidden Races Series. Currently she is working on the third book in the series, while plotting others. When not writing, she can be found reading, cooking, throwing around kettle bells, or making coffee.

Release Day – Command The Tides by: Wren Handman!

Posted on by Patricia Leever

Command The Tides,
a romantic fantasy novel by Wren Handman

“David, help Ryan cover the trail. I’ll help Sarah take Darren. Taya, take my sword and cover us.”
“The girl? She’s like to cut off her own feet as an enemy!” Liam hissed.
Taya felt her face grow hot. As always when she felt embarrassment closing in, she covered it with anger. She grabbed Jeremy’s sword by the hilt, drawing it out with one smooth motion and swinging it down so the point touched the
ground just an inch in front of Liam’s foot. She felt Jeremy take a staggering
step backward, startled.
“I will not only cut our enemy, I will cut the feet off of our enemy and
leave them to bleed in the dirt. I haven’t let us down yet, and I certainly don’t
intend to start now. And if you ever call me ‘the girl’ again, I will show you
exactly what I am expert at cutting off,” she snarled, and then she hoisted the
sword and spun on her heel, storming away before he could react.
She stood at the edge of their sad, sodden company, the hilt of the sword
resting snugly in the palm of her hand, her back straight and her head held high,
and the only thing going through her mind was the fact she had absolutely,
completely, no idea how to use a sword.

Twenty-four years into the Dead outbreak that ended the world, Soren Mitchell sticks out like a sore thumb in the remains of the human race. She’s an anomaly: a hybrid of human and Dead, created by her mother’s genetic immunity. Like her parents, she’s fierce and strong. But despite their hopes for her happiness and safety, and even though she is no real threat to the colony, she has let the humans muzzle her and confine her within the walls of Dead Run River in search of a cure.

When Kaegan Langford stumbles into the colony with an injured friend draped across his shoulders, her world is turned upside down. Intrigued and affected by her, he asks her to come to Empalme, Mexico with him to fight in the war between Deads and humans. It’ll be a long, treacherous journey to the coast, but she’s had all she can take in the colony.

Battles with Deads, betrayal, injury, kidnappings, and a criminal-run train ride stand between them and the war. But in the end, it’s not just the war with the Deads that could be the death of them.

Tera Shanley’s final book in the Dead Rapture series will thrill your heart…and your braaaains.
